On June 14, in cities around the world, our sister Guilds and Unions from the International Affiliation of Writers Guilds (IAWG), Federation of Screenwriters in Europe (FSE), and UNI Global Union (UNI-MEI) are organizing pickets and other actions to support the WGA strike.

Under the banner of Screenwriters Everywhere, solidarity events will take place in countries including Canada, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, France, Poland, Ireland, Ukraine, Netherlands, Argentina, Italy, Colombia, Denmark, South Korea, Spain, Mexico, and Israel. All members who are living or traveling near an action are encouraged to participate. See the growing list of actions worldwide

Television and screenwriters around the world are watching our fight closely. We share many of the same challenges, increasingly work for the same multinational companies, and see our content distributed on the same platforms. Our sister guilds understand that solidarity with U.S. writers is important for raising standards globally. Their fight is our fight, and ours is theirs.

In New York and Los Angeles, WGA members will bring the message of international writer solidarity to two of the largest global employers: Netflix and Disney. Come to the picket lines at Netflix and Disney in L.A., or outside of The View  in NYC on June 14 with your globally-inspired signs (bonus points if it’s in a language other than English!). Note that the word “screenwriter” is inclusive of TV writers in other parts of the world. So, when we say Screenwriters Everywhere, we mean all writers.

And, of course, the easiest way to send a message around the world is through social media, so check out our social media toolkit.
